This morning, the film was the first thing that came to my mind and it was very clear. There was a part of me that felt the film lost some spark and logic and there’s another part of me screaming that the film was one of its kind. 2.5 hours later, I left the theater with an unsettled feeling I wasn’t able to express my clear thoughts on the film.
#Review of vanakkam chennai movie movie#
Those comments started to create an image into me about the film as a whole, yet on Sunday I watched the film as a neutral movie fan, and reminded myself that IT IS a Selvaraghavan’s film. Being a Twitter lover, I was unable to refrain myself from reading tweets which had mixed reactions from the audience after watching the film last week. Selvaraghavan is a director who doesn’t’t only make films he does experiments on subjects which are less touched by any other mainstream film makers. It was mainly due to the unique look of Anushka and Arya, and most importantly the director himself. Irandam Ulagam, being the magnum opus of Selvaraghavan was one of the most awaited films of the year, at least for me. My pick : Neeyenna Periya Appatakkara, Mosale Mosale and Puthiya Ulagai. With some lovely signature tunes together with new and engaging beats, Yennamo Yedho is definitely enjoyable. A sad melody, yet I believe one of the best track of the album.īrilliant start of 2014 for D.Imman. The first half of the song deals with the relationship between a mother and her son/daughter. She expressed the emotions beautifully through her voice complimenting the lyrics by Karky. Puthiya Ulagai (Vocal : Vaikom Vijayalakshmi | Lyrics : Karky)Ī very soulful and fresh rendition by Vaikom Vijayalakshmi. D Imman’s usage of nadhaswaram to pump up and maintain the energy of the track is applaudable. Peppy track accompanied by the unexpected high-pitched voice of AV Pooja (Paakathey Paakathey fame) and Deepak. A rabbit! Mosale (rabbit), oosarathil oosarathil guthikithey (jumps high), carrot, panji kaal (cottony legs), mutthugil pinnal nee kanne vechi parpeh (rabbits are known to have approx 360 degree view) and etc. Mosale Mosale (Vocals : Deepak, AV Pooja | Lyrics : Karky)Ī rabbit-themed love song. I personally felt it was slightly inappropriate, made me to think twice before singing it out loud. However, her portions could have been increased and the first word of the song, Muttalai could have been changed to something else. Maria Roe Vincent, whom has recently sung the much peppy Hey! track from Vanakkam Chennai (together with Papon) complimented D Imman’s vocals in proper balance. This song falls in the line of Yeley Maruthu (Pandiyanaadu) and Verasa Pogayiley (Jilla). Muttaalaai Muttaalaai (Vocals : D.Imman, Maria Roe Vincent | Lyrics : Karky)Ī mandatory soft-melody of the album, sung by the music director himself. Deepak’s rendition presence the guy’s frustration with ease. Hugely reminds me of Theyae Theyae (Maattrraan).
Shut Up Your Mouth (Vocals : Deepak, Shruthi Hassan | Lyrics : Karky)Įngaging beat with the tipsy voice of Shruthi Hassan. P/s : I began to notice Harshitha Krishnan’s voice after her recent release of Acapella cover version of Elay Keechan (together with Vijay Narain) which was released as AR Rahman sir’s birthday special.
Anirudh’s signature playful vocal together with Harshitha Krishnan’s bold and fruity voice provided the perfect platform for the song. Karky came up with the simplest arrangement of words to describe the boy and girl’s plight of love failure. The track is treated with enough amounts of nakkals and naiyandis as the title proposed. Neeyenna Periya Appatakkara (Vocals : Anirudh Ravichander, Harshitha Krishnan | Lyrics : Karky)
